Kareri Lake is situated among Dhauladhar Himalaya in district Kangra of Himachal Pradesh. The lake is approx. 9 KM aerial distance south of Dharamshala. Kareri lake is a high altitude, shallow, clear water lake formed by melting snow and ice fed by Minkiani pass . The lake offers you a serene, peaceful environment where one can spend few nights with friends and family members in solace to take back great memories for life. The beautiful views of majestic Himalayas, deep pine & Himalayan cedar forest and mountain streams make one feel in union with self. Although there are many routes to reach Kareri lake from Dharamshala however the most safe & moderate for all kinds of travellers starts from Nauli village.The trek passes through mountain trails along some beautiful river streams across forest offering breath-taking views of snow clad Himalayan peak. The trek gains a maximum height of 3300 meters and covers approx. 18 Kms in return journey. The lake is so clear that images of trees and forest can be seen in water.

The Kareri Lake trek has been marked as an easy to moderate trek. While the trek gradient maintains a gentle incline and decline throughout, it can get steep in parts. However, it is to be noted that the steep parts mostly have steps cut into the rocks for convenience. Moreover, the short duration of three days for the trek and the total distance covered being around 27 km, the trek is reasonable for a first-time trekker as well!
